Bumper offer! The Honda Activa CNG is here, with 90 km/liter mileage and at just ₹49,999!

Honda Activa CNG Launch: Another new CNG scooter is being planned for launch in India. Honda is launching the Activa CNG, which will be available at an affordable price. CNG is almost always superior in terms of mileage in all vehicles, and this Honda Activa is also expected to deliver very high mileage in kilometers per liter. Let’s find out what new features have been added to the Honda Activa, when it will be launched, what the price will be, and other details.

Amidst rising petrol prices, Honda has taken a significant step in the Indian two-wheeler market. The company has launched its popular scooter, the Honda Activa, in a CNG version. This scooter is especially for customers who want lower running costs and better mileage for their daily commute.

New Option with CNG Technology

The Honda Activa CNG features a CNG fuel system instead of petrol, significantly reducing fuel costs. CNG is not only cheaper but also considered more environmentally friendly than petrol.

Mileage and Performance

According to the company, the Honda Activa CNG is capable of delivering better mileage. In city traffic, this scooter provides a smooth riding experience. The engine has been tuned to maintain a good balance between power and fuel efficiency.

Design and Features

In terms of design, the Activa CNG looks similar to its petrol version. It features a digital meter, a comfortable seat, and a robust body. Special attention has been paid to storage and comfort, keeping everyday use in mind.

Honda Activa CNG: What is the official status?

According to the official website and recent updates from Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI), there is no factory-fitted Honda Activa CNG model available. The current Activa lineup includes the Activa 6G (109.51 cc) and Activa 125 (123.92 cc) petrol variants, along with the electric Activa e. No CNG version has been launched.

The ex-showroom price of the Activa 6G starts at around ₹78,000 in Delhi, while the Activa 125 is priced at around ₹92,000. The ARAI-claimed mileage is around 47-50 kmpl on petrol, but in real-world conditions, it delivers 45-50 kmpl in the city and slightly more on the highway. Claims of 90 km/liter are impossible – this is likely misrepresenting the km/kg figure for CNG kits or is completely fake marketing.

What about CNG kits? Retrofit options available

The only way to run a Honda Activa on CNG is by installing an aftermarket CNG kit. Companies like Lovato (Italy) and MGL (Mumbai Gas) sell these kits for ₹15,000-25,000. These typically involve two cylinders with a capacity of 1-2 kg each (total 2 kg of CNG), providing a range of 100-120 km.

After installing the kit, the scooter becomes a dual-fuel vehicle (petrol + CNG). RTO approval and paperwork (approximately ₹1,000-2,000 extra) are required. In older pilot projects (2016-17), MGL/GAIL kits were fitted to Domino’s delivery bikes, claiming a range of 120 km. However, performance decreases by 5-10%, and the top speed is limited to 80-85 kmph. Actual mileage: 60-80 km/kg on CNG (1 kg of CNG ≈ equivalent energy of 1.3-1.5 liters of petrol). Running cost is half that of petrol (₹1.2-1.5/km), i.e., ₹0.6-0.8/km. However, the claim of 90 km/liter is misleading – it incorrectly represents km/kg.

Safety and Maintenance

The CNG tank has been designed according to safety standards. Honda claims that the scooter will also have lower maintenance costs, which can prove beneficial in the long run.

Price and Availability

The price of the Honda Activa CNG may be slightly higher than the petrol version, but due to lower fuel costs, the investment is expected to be recovered quickly. This scooter may soon be available in select cities. Conclusion

If you are worried about rising petrol costs and want a reliable, fuel-efficient scooter, then the Honda Activa CNG could be a good option for you.
