Maruti’s first EV has become the hottest topic – the eVX will offer a 550 km range in 2026. Say goodbye to petrol!

Maruti eVX 2026: Growing Excitement

Interest in the Maruti eVX 2026 is growing in the Indian electric vehicle (EV) market. Based on reports and indications from the auto industry, it is being considered one of the most anticipated electric SUVs of the future.

The company will officially share the complete list of final features and variants closer to the launch date. Currently, discussions are intensifying regarding its potential range and running costs.

Claimed/Expected Range of up to 550 km

The most notable aspect of the Maruti eVX 2026 is its claimed range of up to 550 km. However, the actual range may vary depending on factors such as driving style, traffic, weather conditions, tire pressure, and AC usage.

If this figure remains largely unchanged in the production model, it could become a significant attraction for customers who frequently undertake long-distance journeys.

Focus on Low Running Costs

A major argument in favor of EVs is generally their lower running costs, as electricity costs can be significantly lower than petrol/diesel in many situations. In the context of the Maruti eVX 2026, low cost per kilometer is also being highlighted as a key advantage.

However, the actual cost will depend on charging tariffs (home/public), vehicle efficiency, battery condition, and usage patterns.

Battery, Charging, and Everyday Use Considerations

According to reports, the Maruti eVX, expected in 2026, will likely feature a battery pack configuration designed with fast-charging support and a long range in mind. The availability of a charging network will also be a crucial factor for both urban use and highway driving.

Furthermore, EV buyers often prioritize aspects such as warranty, battery health, and service network. Maruti’s extensive service network is seen as a potential advantage in this regard.

eVX’s Exciting Design and Styling: A Futuristic SUV

The eVX concept was unveiled at the 2023 Auto Expo, and now the production model (e-Vitara) has been revealed. This is an SUV measuring 4,275 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm and a ground clearance of 180 mm. The design is based on the “High-Tech & Adventure” theme – featuring a muscular look, a closed-off grille, tri-LED DRLs, sharp headlights, aerodynamic 18-inch alloy wheels, rear door handles integrated into the C-pillar, connected taillights, an integrated spoiler, and a rear skid plate.

Built on an EV skateboard platform, it offers short overhangs, a flat floor, and a spacious cabin. The look is premium and adventurous – equally at home on city streets and off-road trails. Spy shots suggest the production model is quite close to the concept.

Powerful Performance and 550 km Range: Guaranteed Long-Distance Travel

The biggest highlight of the eVX is the 61 kWh LFP blade battery pack (from BYD), which provides a range of up to 550 km (estimated on WLTP/ARAI cycle, ~400-450 km for the 49 kWh variant). The 49 kWh pack will come with a FWD single motor (144 hp, 189 Nm), while the 61 kWh version will offer 174 hp. The AWD variant (dual-motor, ALLGRIP-e) will have 184 hp and 300 Nm of torque.

While the torque might seem a bit low, the instant EV torque, smooth acceleration, and quiet ride make it fun to drive. The e-AllGrip system with Trail mode will provide off-road performance through braking and torque vectoring. Charging: 30-80% charging will be quick with a DC fast charger, and overnight with an AC home charger.

Battery, Charging, and HEARTECT-e Platform

The eVX is built on the HEARTECT-e skateboard platform (Suzuki-Toyota-Daihatsu joint development). It features a lightweight structure, high-voltage protection, maximum battery space, and a focus on safety. The use of 50%+ high-tensile steel and a flat floor increases battery capacity. The LFP battery is ideal for safety, long life, and thermal stability.
It will be manufactured at Maruti’s Gujarat plant in India, with high localization (70-80%) to keep prices competitive. There is a strong focus on exports – Europe and Japan first, followed by India.

Launch Timeline and Pricing Outlook

Various estimates have emerged regarding the launch schedule and pricing of the Maruti eVX in 2026. According to auto industry trackers, the launch timing and final pricing will likely be influenced by factors such as battery supply, feature set, localization efforts, and the strategies of competing models.

1) Is the Maruti eVX 2026’s 550KM range confirmed?
Currently, this figure is based on reports/estimates; the final and confirmed range will be clear after official information and testing data are available.

2) How much savings can be expected with lower running costs?
Savings depend on charging tariffs, vehicle efficiency, and driving patterns; EVs generally have lower energy costs per kilometer.

3) Will it have fast charging?
Fast-charging support is expected, but final details regarding charging speed/standards (DC/AC) will be available closer to the launch.

4) What is the price and launch date of the Maruti eVX 2026?
The official final announcement regarding the price and launch timeline is still awaited; these factors will depend on the variants and feature sets.
